£ISOO COMPENSATION AND RECORD AMENDED
MR JOSUNG’S VINDICATION.
Aust. Press Assn.—United Service. LONDON, March 4. Sir William Joynson-Hicks, the Home Secretary, announced in the House of Commons to-day that exSergeant Josling, whose character was vindicated as a result of the recent case in which ex-Sergeant Goddard and others wore imprisoned on charges of bribery, would receive compensation amounting to £ISOO and, in addition, the records would be amended to show that he voluntarily resigned without a reflection on his character.
On behalf of the House of Commons, Sir William wished Mr Josling success in his present career (cheers). Mr. Josling in an interview to-day: “I am immensely satisfied. My vindication brings me the greatest joy. I am not so much, concerned with the compensation. I shall return to the small Shropshire school where I am teaching, and I hope that the matter will now be forgotten.”
