BUNNYTHORPE

From Our Own Correspondent.

A largo stack of grass seed belonging to Mr. W. Hughes, Feilding road, was destroyed by fire at an early hour on • Monday morning. ) After the very warm, dry weather s experienced here during tho past three 1 weeks, the steady rain which fell : throughout Monday will prove very ' beneficial to tho farming community. [ Milk supplies have been going down fairly rapidly during the last week [ but with the good rain, autumn growth will be assured. , It is rumoured that a picture show 1 is to commence in Bunnythorpe once again, beginning this week. Previously, this form of amusement has not boon very popular at the local hall, which cannot boast of very comfortable seats. Picture patrons prefer to go to town, where they enjoy a little more luxury for tho same money. Local cyclists had a day out on Saturday. J. Powell, who journeyed over to the Bulls annual meeting, won the points’ prize in tho cycling events, having to firsts and ono third to his credit. F. Powell, at the Manawatn meeting came second, in the 1 mile championship, while M. Donald won the championship and 1 mile handicap, and was second in tho half, and one and a-kalf mile. Personal. Mr. J. O. Webber, who has been headmaster here for the past six years, has been transferred to Wanganui. Mr. Webber will bo a great loss to tho school, where he has done such splendid. work, and it is unfortunate for Bunnytliorpe that the grade of the school has dropped, thus compelling Mr. Webber to make a transfer. Mr. and Mrs. Webber will bo much missed by members of the Anglican Church, whore they have been such regular attenders and willing workers. Their Bunnythorpe friends will wish them every success in their new home. Mr. and Mrs. ATbuthnot left here on Monday to reside in Wellington. They will be greatly missed by the Tennis club, of which they were most enthusiastic members.
