CRICKET
MANAWATU EXECUTIVE MEETS The executive of the Manawatu Cricket Council met last evening, Mr. W. Miller ’in the chair. Also present were: Messrs. A. M. Onglcy, P. Q. Slcoglund, G. Kells, T. Pacey, Ford Carlisle and the secretary, N. Gallichan.
All Saints’ Club wrote asking for permission to play a team from the Wellington boys’ cricket league on Easter Saturday and Monday.—Permission w r as granted, a ground to be arranged. Mr. H. W. Smales, of tho P.W.D. Club, wrote suggesting that a team selected from the seven junior elevens should meet the winners of the senioi grade championship. The captains of the various junior teams had discussed the matter SDd trusted that tho executive would give it favourable consideration. The writer was of the opinion that the match should be an annual one and that it would form an excellent opportunity of allowing tho junior players to try their mettle against the higher grade. The secretary was instructed to write pointing out that no suitable date would be available for such a fixturo. At the same ‘ time, tho chairman expressed the opinion that the suggestion contained in the latter was wurthy of further consideration. Junior Competition.
It was decided to continue the junior competition for two further playing Saturdays, and the following draw was approved:— March 9: P.W.D. (m.) v. High School No. 1, Terrace End; Rongotea v. R.S.A. (m.) No. 2, Terrace End; All Saints’ v. Old Boys (m.), Sports-ground; P. and T., a bye. March 16: High School v. Rongotea (m.), No. 1, Terrace End; O-d Boys (m.) v. R.S.A. No. 2, Terrace End; P. and T. (m.) v. P.W.D., Sportsground; All Saints’, a bye Following the playing of these two rounds, an effort will be mado to arrange games for the junior representitives against Woodville, Dannevirke, Levin or a senior club team.
