DATE BISCUITS. Make the date-paste filling thus; Stone and chop one pound dates and miv with halfcup brown sugar and half-cup water, then add one tablespoon lemon-juice; cook these together till thick, stirring all the time. For the biscuit mixture take two cups self-raising flour, one cup brown sugar and rub in three-quarter small cup butter. Mix to a stiff dough with about third-cup milk. Cut mixture in halves; /■roll one half out thin and spread with the date paste, toll other half and place on top; press edges together and cut in shapes desired. Bake in a moderate oven about twenty minutes.
