PESTS OF THE SHOW RING

Of the many pests of the show ring, there is none more annoying to the spectator at tho ring side, than to have a catalogue from which he can got very little or practically no information at all about the animals in front of him. For instance, at the recent Gore show, the only particulars given in the catelogue in most cases was the name of tho exhibitor, without any indication as to the name or the breeding of the animal. A typical example was the senior yearling heifer class in tho Friesian section, in which eleven heifers were entered. In the catalogue, the name of tho exhibitor was given in each case, but the name of the animal was given only in five eases, while no indication was given at all regarding the breeding of the animals. If stock showing is to bo made interesting from the spectators’ point of view, it is necessary that full details should bo given in the catalogue i.e., name of exhibitor; name of animal, date of birth; while the exhibits should have a tag with their numbers on in largo figures so that they can bo identified anywhere on the showgrounds from the catalogue by the spectator.
