STATE ADVANCES
£1,236,000 AUTHORISED SINCE DECEMBER 10. WELLINGTON, Feb. 28. With regard to’ advances to settlers and workers Sir Joseph Ward stated to-day that from December 10 to February 27, £1,235,705 was authorised, comprising 619 applications by settlers and 598 by workers. The actual amounts paid over during the period wero £413,175 to 311 settlers and £358,975 to 409 workers. The applicants concerned in the balance of the £1,235,765 had been advised
the money was available and it would be paid over in due course. Since December 10, new loan moneys amounting to £1,160,850 had been added to the capital of tho State Advances office. These facts showed there had been no delay on the part of the State Advances, in giving effect to the Government’s policy.
