HOCKEY DANCE. From Our Own Correspondent. At a hookey meeting held last week, it "was arranged that a dance should be held on tho evening of Wednesday, March 6th, the music to be supplied by Packer’s full orchestra. There will be euchre for non dancers, and as this will be the first hockey dance of tho season a very good attendance is anticipated. Tennis Court. Work at tho tennis court during the last week has been progressing slowly though satisfactorily and Messrs. T. Green and helper R. Cockburn and Sons, A. Groves, A. and G. Humphrey and T. Bailey, have rendered Mr. Saywell much valuable assistance. A working bee has been called for Thursday to obtain sand from Onepuhi, -a couple of loads being needed as a finish to the colfix. Should the fine weather continue, it is hoped the court will be completed by the end of this week, though there will still be a good deal of work to be done following Mr. Saywell’s departure, in the way of netting to be erected and a general cleaning up. ; School News. A cricket set was granted the pupils by the school committee some days ago,, since when great interest has been shown in the game. Boys and girls alike are keen players and two teams, the “Invincibles” and “Die Hartls,” have been formed among whom there is much friendly rivalry. Owing to a mild epidemic among the’ children, there has been a number of absentees from school recently, the only serious case among them being Dick Marshall. This lad is at present suffering from an attack of pneumonia. So far however, his condition has not necessitated his removal to a hospital.
