TESTING DYNAMO CONNECTIONS
The positive pole of the dynamo is connected to the positive terminal of tho accumulator, and not otherwise as many people appear to suppose. Wrong dynamo connections to the battery- are extremely harmful; the accumulator q'uickly runs down and the dynamo becomes heated to such an extent that the hand cannot bo borne on it after oven a short run. To determine polarity of the dynamo, procure some pole-finding paper, or dip the two ends of the loads into a glassful of acidulated water (vinegar will serve as acid). The -wire from which bubbles arise when the dynamo is running is negative.
