RESTORING WASHERS
Copper-asbestos washers, used for making a. gas seal bettveen the sparking plugs and the cylinder head, get into bad condition in time, and need replacing. If new washers are not available, the old ones may be restored to a cervuceable condition by heating them to redness and plunging them into methylated spirits contained in the lid of a tin. This renders the washers soft, so that a sound joint cam bo made.
