RACIAL EQUALITY IN SOUTH AFRICA
IMPOSSIBLE PROPOSITION. CAPETOWN, Feb. IS. General Hertzog, at the second reading of the Native Representation Bill, at a joint sitting, said if the Government gave the natives equality with tho whites, the latter could pack their bundles and leave South Africa. They must make the native understand such a demand was impossible. While admitting that coloured people have suffered injustice, he stressed that the whites bitterly regretted having driven the coloured races to join forces with the natives.
