Tho Y.M.C.A. is conscious of the fact that tho public, and especially the parents and the immediate friends of the members, expect the association to make good not only in tho provision of high-class equipment, but in the organisation of that vast amount of personal service which is essential to the carrying through of a successful year’s work. The splendid spirit of unselfish devotion of the many men and women who are involved in tho Y.M.C.A. organisation should be borne in mind by tho Palmerston North publis, who are surely quick to recogniso the outstanding value of this personal service to the community. On Saturday next, teams of business and lady collectors will be on the streets from 6 a.m. till 5 p.m., and members of the Y.M.C.A. Optimists’ Club from 7.15 to 9.30 p.m. Members of the boys’ division will do a syAematic canvass from house to house, from 9 a.m. till 11 a.m., armed with badges to be sold at Is. Tho board of directors has every confidence that the various teams will meet with a general and sympathetic re sponse from the public. The value of tho badges to be sold are: Gold, £1; white, 2s 6d; blue, Is. There are many citizens who aro giving handsome annual donations to the finances of the Association, this appeal next .Saturday will give an opportunity -to those whose power to help financially is limited to smaller amounts. The bands, procession of decorated cars, industrial exhibits, motor bikes and concert lorries, will assemble at the Opera House at 2.30 p.m., under Messrs. Sclwyn and Jaggard. They will move off at 2.45 p.m. and proceed around the Square, ■ faking in Main, Andrew Young ,Cuba and Rangitikei streets and Broadway en route.
