From Our Own Correspondent. PERSONAL. Mrs Hobbs and her two daughters of Rongotca are spending a holiday at Foxton beach. Mr. W. Aldridge, who was severely gored by., a bull on Sunday is reported to be progressing favourably. Mr. R. Owen, who in company with Mrs Owen, has been spending a holiday in Auckland, returned to duty yesterday. Mrs W. Better, of Wellington has been spending a holiday with Mrs J. C. Rotter, of Coley streot. Mrs R. Allender, of Wellington and Miss D. Lumb, of Dunedin, are at present spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs J. K. Hornblow, Thynne street. ! Mrs A. Craig, of Robinson street, is at present a patient in the Palmerston North hospital. Bowling. Three rinks from Terrace End journeyed to Foxton yesterday to play for the Fletcher Shield, which had been wrested from Palmerston North last week and were successful in returning home with the trophy. The aggregate scores were 68 —15. At the conclusion' of play, Mr John Ross, on behalf of the Foxton club, formally handed over the shield to the visitors, stating that they were sorry to see it go away again so soon. He wished the Terrace End club every sucI cess and said that, apart from everything else, the i lay had been most enjoyable. Cheers were given for the winners. ; Mr H. Snell, on behalf of Terrace I End, acknowledged receipt of the shield and stated that his club had a very sentimental interest in it. The donor (Mr Fletcher) had been watching the first match for the shield between Terrace End and Palmerston North and that night, ho had suddenly
expired. After he had extended an invitation to the Fox-ton club to attend the electric light tourney at Terrace End, cheers were given for the losers and for the ladies for providing afternoon tea. Individual scores were as follow:
Dixon, Boyce, Wort, Dunealf 23 defeated Scadden, Walton, Walker, Woods 14.
L. J. Smith, Bo vis, Madden, Sparrow 23 defeated Stevenson, J. Ncwth, John Ross, Thomson 22.
Hine, Moehan, Snell, Wallace 22 defeated Parkin, Robinson, Barr, Nye 9. T-'he team to represent Foxton for tho Manson and Barr Cup at Palmerston North on Saturday is as under: W. S. Hayes, Jno Ross, W. Nyo and J. M. Thomson.
