A wild stampede, resulting in tho injury of from 50 to 100 commuters, occurred when a train caught fire tonight in one of the tubes under the Hudson river from New York to New Jersey. So far as is known in tho general confusion, none was killed, but it is feared that, a number of those burned and tramplod will die. Traffic throughout the tubo system is blocked, causing much additional confusion. The lights went out and a ramc started. Passengers fought each other in attempting to escape the flames apd police reserves restored order with great difficulty in avoiding being crushed themselves by tho frantic mob. The majority of the injured were women and a few were children.
