EDUCATION BOARD BUSINESS IN BRIEF

PROGRESS AT RUSSELL STREET. ' Special to Times. ' WANGANUI, Last Night. _ At to-day’s meeting of the Wanganui Education board, tho architect reported as follows: —

Longburn: The erection of tho now room has been completed and is now in occupation. Awahou South school and outbuildhavo been painted, Awahau North school, residence and outbuildings have been painted and two rooms in tho residence have been repapered. At Kelvin Grove school, the residence and outbuildings have been repaired and painted. At Contrnl school, repairs have been carried, out to the windows of tho -infant school and to tho furniture of the main school. Russel streot: Tho erection of the new school, with out-ofliecs ,is nearing completion, tho whole of the furniture is ready for delivery and the building should be roady for occupation by March 4.

Clydesdale: Tho erection of new buildings with outbuildings has been commenced and in four weeks’ tunc, should bo ready for occupation. Tho chairman, in his report, stated that tho resignation had beeu received sinco last meeting of Mr. Dean, assistant at Cheltenham. The following wero on tho relieving staff: —Acting head teachers: Mosßrs R. Irwin (Hokowhitu), G. A. Mills (KimboltonL Acting assistants: M. Edwards (Rongotea), M. Y. Hay (Palmerston North Central), E. M. Wilson (Terraco End), M. Graham (Rata), K. Graham (Bunnythorpe).
