PERSONAL
Mr. D. T. Allan, District Telegraphs engineer, is on vacation till the end of January. Mr. H. C. Brent, of Wellington, is relieving Mr. Allan. Mr. C. B. Bowie, secrotary of the Kaiapoi Woollen Coy., is retiring at the end of the month, after 31 years’ service with the company. From 1898 to 1915 he was branch manager at Wellington. Since 1915 he has been connected with management at headquarters as assistant-managor till 1925, then manager, and lattorly as secretary of the company. On Thursday evening, members of the Terrace End Tennis, Bowling and Croquet Club assembled at the pavilion to farewell their popular secretary, Mr. A. F. Gilmore, who has been transferred to Wellington. Tho president, Mr. G. B. Cope, referred eulogistically to the departing member, stressing tho active part Mr. Gilinour had taken in forwarding the Club’s welfare. lie then made a presentation to the late secretary. Mr. E. Anderson added to the remarks of the previous speaker. Mr. Gilmour expressed his thanks and his regrets at having to sever his connection with the Terrace End Club.
