TRAINS HELD UP. United Press Association —By Electri® Telegraph—Copyright. BRISBANE, Last Night. The Burdekin river commenced to rise without any warning at the rate of five feet an hour until it was within three feet of tho railway lines. The rapid rise then slackened, but at 7 o’clock last night the water was over the rails, and it was still rising. All railway traffic has been stopped as the bridges are under water. A train from Cairns to Townsville passed over the Herbert river bridge, but water then came down from the ranges and the train was held up at Cardwell.
AVhile endeavouring to cross the bridge over the Herbert river, Henry Zeiko wa3 swept away by the rushing Waters and drowned.
