MOTORING ON THE SANDS
UNPAYABLE STUNTS. Plimmerton boacli at this period of the year is the playground of numberless children and the highwatcr mark of as many bathers, but an attempt is being made by certain unthinking motorists to utiliso the sandy beach for motoring stunts, to the annoyance of bathers. One motorist has yet to reckon tho cost of an experiment which occurred on Sunday evening and it is to be hoped that his experience will be broadcast as a warning to others tempted to curtail the liberties of those enjoying tho freedom of such a popular seaside resort. Not surisfici with showing how well his sedan car travelled along the sand at low water, the motorist decided to make a further trip along the narrow fringe of sand when the tde was in. The experiment went well for a while until a soft patch was mot with and then the car refused to budge. Each effort to move the car under its own power saw tho wheels sink lower into tho soft sand and gradually the tide crept nearer the vehicle until salt water was lapping the wheels and the under carriage. The car remained in this position for some time until it was got away to safety, but not before the salt water had played on vital parts of the car sufficiently long to do damage which will soon be apparent. The motorist’ had very little sympathy from the crowd of bathers, who considered the misadventure more expressive than a verbal 1 lesson.
