PREPARING FOR WOOL AUCTION AT WANGANUI

25,000 Bales to be Offered CLIPS GENERALLY IN GOOD CONDITION Times Special. WANGANUI, Last Night. Wool is coming into the stores in large quantities for the next sale, to be held at Wanganui on Wednesday, January 23 and is said to be opening up in good order. It is light in grease, owing to the almost continuous wet weather. Some clips from the back country off blackened fern lands, where there was extensive burning last season are rather dingy. Taken on the whole, however, the clip shows good condition. A catalogue of 25,000 bales will bo offered next week and a further 20,000 bales at the February fixture. It has been definitely decided to hold another sale at Wanganui in March. Representatives of the trade here expect that prices will at least be maintained at the coming sale. Wellington Sale RANGE OF PRICES. The following is the official range o! prices at the Wellington sale:— Merino, 64/70, 60/64 —

Sydney Sales Resume Australian Press Association. Received Monday 10.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 14. The wool sales were resumed to-day, when 11,342 bales were sold. An exceedingly firm market ruled, prices being in the seller’s favour. There was rather more competition on American and Yorkshire accounts. Crossbreds were particularly lirrn and keenly competed for. Greasy Merino sold to 37} pence. London Prospects BELIEVED HIGH RATES WILL BE MAINTAINED. LONDON, Jan. 13. The prospects for the wool sales, which open on Tuesday, appear to be good, according to. one Bradford correspondent. The general impression is that the values prevailing during the last series will be maintained, and that some appreciation may be seen in crossbreds. Accordingly, the tendency in the tops market is firmer, and any movement there are likely will bo in an upward direction. Another correspondent writes that the outlook is remarkably good, and that there is every probability of a good, all-round, encouraging demand developing.

The fact that there arc no excessive stocks in Bradford, and that colonial requirements arc expected to be on a large scale, gives ground for a very healthy prospect from the sellers’ viewpoint.
