JUNIOR NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Of 140 successful candidates attending the main schools of the Dominion, Ralph A. Holmes, of Hokowliitu, gained 524 marks, and of 2-1 who passed from country schools. Beryl Stevens, of Mount Richsrds, Pohangina, gained 624 marks, which is the second highest number for any school in New Zealand. Edith Dalzicll of Eangiora high school was first with 633 marks. The Mount Richards candidate who was taught by Miss Fauchello is 12 years and four months old. 201 candidates in the North Island and 63 in the South qualified for scholarships.
