MEN AND PONIES FOR POLO TEST
CHAMPIONS CONGREGATING. United Press Association —By EleetriO Telegraph—Copyright. Received Monday, 1 a.m. LOS ANGELES, Jan. 13. With the biggest aggregation of polo ponies that has ever invaded tha U.S.A., Skeeno and Beverage arrived here to-day from Honolulu. Other m6mbers of the team will assemble within a few days. They plan to play their first game against the Midwick quartette next Saturday. Pierson is here, Edwards and Baldwin are en route from Vancouver, and Dillingham is on his way from Euroupe. The mounts include 48 ponies in the care of 12 grooms. They stood the trip well, despito several days' rough weather. Thirty-eight are Australian thoroughbreds 'and eight are Maui ponies from Hawaii. The polo season, just opening, prom* ises to bo the most colourful in Southern Californian history. Among players who will be performing at Midwick is Tommy Hitchcock, the U.S. skipper.
