Dr. Ivan Wilson, -who has returned to Palmerston North, has resumed practice. A London cable message reports the death of Mr. Willian Wcddol, the meat importer. Mr. Moon, of Brisbane, who is on a short tour of New Zealand, was a visitor to Palmerston North over the week-end. Constable Thom, of Tc Araroa (East Coast) , until recently a member of the Palmerston North Police force, is re visiting the town, accompanied by Mrs. Thom. The Premier, Mr. MacKenzic King, has announced that the Canadian government has recommended to the King the appointment of Mr. Herbert Marler, of M'outreal, as Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary for Canada to Japan. Mr. A. I'. Gilmore, of the clerical staff at the Palmerston North railway stntion, has received official notification of his transfer on promotion to Wellington where he will fill the position of rates clerk to the goods department. Mr. Gilmore will take up his new duties on January 21. The Minister of Health (Hon. A. J. Stallwoithy) will arrive in Palmerston North at mid-day to-day and after lunch will meet members of the Palmerston North hospital board. An inspection of the hospital and the board’s Awapuni farm has been arranged. The Minister will proceed to Wanganui to-morrow morning.
