STALLING- ON CROSSINGS
It is not an infrequent happening for an engine to sfall on a railway crossing, the reason being that many crossings ' have a distinct rise to the level of the rails, and the driver is proceeding so slowly while watching out for a train that tho engine peters out at the top of the grade, liven with a powerfully engined car it is advisable . to change down when approaching such crossings! Not only will this enable the engine to be kept running, but it will provide a quick pick-up should such be necessary. Moreover, it will eliminate the tendency to dash over the crossing in top v.ithout exercising sufficient care.
