TEST CONDITIONS MUST PROVIDE FOR DECISION
% DANGER OF STALEMATE. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, Jan. 11. “Great care must bo taken as to the actual wording of the conditions for tho nest Test matches in Australia, otherwise a stalemate may result,’’ states the newspaper Sporting Life. “Assuming that England or Australia won two matches, and the other side one, with one drawn when the fourth game is completed, whether the fifth is, or is not played, to a finish there would be a risk of the sides finishing mil square. It is important clearly to define what the word ‘advantage’ means. Presumably, in the event of one country leading, the fifth Test would be confined to four days, but in those four a definite result might be reached and the team which started the game down might finish with a win. The meagre particulars at present revealed do not suggest that satisfactory precautions have been taken to avoid a stalemate.’’
