AMERICAN SENATORS ARE ABOVE SUSPICION
FORGED DOCUMENTS. PURPORTING TO SHOW THEY ACCEPTED BRIBES. United Association—By Electrie Telegraph—Copyright. Received Thursday, 9.45 p.m. WASHINGTON, Jan. IQ. Sensation has been caused here by the announcement that the Senato Committee has been secretly investigating documents here and abroad, pretending to show that Senators Borah and Norris received 100,000 dollars each Jrom the Soviet Ambasasdor in Paris 7 and Senators Borah, Norris, Lafollette and Heflin also received 1,215,000 dollars from the Mexican Government.
The committee to-day rendered an unanimous declaration that the charges wero absolutely false and the documents an utter forgery. While the documents relative to the Mexican matter have been under investigation for over a year, the Russian aspect came as a complete surprise and the Senate report indicated tho existence of a system for the dissemination of such forged documents. Tho chairman of tho committee, Senator ltecd, described tho system as “a nefarious traffic,” adding that the whole matter would bo amusing if it did not trifle with tho reputations of distinguished Americans’ reputations that it was to the Interest of all America to hold above suspicion.
