Nineteen mothers were admitted to the Palmerston North Maternity Home during December, while 20 had attended at the ante-natal clinic.
The Medical Superintendent (Dr Frank Ward) reported to the Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday that nurses Austin, Penney, and Walter, had completed their maternity course. Nurse Austin had obtained 75 per cent, and over in her exam. Nurse Herald commenced training on December 20. Sister Currie has resigned on account of ill health.
The Matron of the Palmerston North Hospital (Miss J. N. McGhie) acknowledges tho foil "ring donations: —Mr Linklater and Longburn Freezing Works, lambs; Mrs. Faulkner, strawberries, eggs and flowers; Mrs. McKenzie, flowers; Mrs. illes, bonbons; Messrs. .GoMingham and Beckett, muscatels; Mesrs. Barraud and Abraham, case of wine; Mr J. M. Johnston, race tickets. Concerts had been given by Mr Pizzey and party, High School girls, and All Saints Choir.
