WAY OF THE CHINESE

THE JAPANESE BOYCOTT. DAMAGE TO MISSION ORGAN. SHANGHAI, Nov. 23. A foreign mission stationed in the town of Chinkiang, on the Yangtsze river, engaged on the work of repairing and refurnishing their premises, which have been almost ruined by prolonged occupation by Chinese soldiery, required another organ, tho previous one having been smashed beyond repair. A request was accordingly sent to Shanghai for a second-hand one.

A good instrument was selected, carefully packed and despatched to tho mission. Upon arrival it was found that tha stops of the organ had been torn out, the bellows punctured, the notes smashed and a great piece hacked out of the back; the crato in which the organ was despatched was not damaged. The nature of the smashing proved that it was done deliberately. The organ was of Japanese make, and it is believed that tho wanton destruction was the work of a Japanese boycott gang.
