FEILDING’S CARNIVAL

INTERESTING COMPETITIONS. Fcildiug’s carnival week will conidjcucc on February 4 and the committee bus already under way a series on competitions in onler to work up Interest. Competition one is for the purpose oi discovering who is Feilding’s ugliest man and nominations are now invited.A small nomination fee will be charged and votes will continue to cost money. Another competition is that of guessing the combined weight of live leading residents of Feilding, to be named. It is also proposed to have an All Back competition. A photograph of a number of men standing with their backs to tho camera should give the populace a task in endeavouring to discover who they are. The Programme. Following is the proposed programme for carnival week: — Monday, February 4.—Maori paity, massed band, lire brigade, private cars (decorated cars and bicycles), Boy ■Scouts and Girl Guides. Tuesday.—Swimming sports. Wednesday. —Trades procession, impromptu concert, Maori party, orchestra, and. dancing. Thursday.—Amateur Athletic association sports, band. Friday.—Dancing, (Meg Euyvett, Joyce Hayward), and boxing. Saturday.—Grand Scotch concert, Pipe Band, dancing on lawn, orchestra, boys’ benzine tin competition, Boy Ccouts and Girl Guides. A souvenir booklet is to be issued and should prove a valuable record of Feilding’s progress and possibilities. Mr. O. C. Sporlc, the organiser, in at work interviewing the business people and is meeting with encouraging support.
