Political parties in Britain are realising that the general election, which is expected to take place on October 6, will cost enormously more than previous elections, owing . to there being 5,245,000 new names on the register. It is expected there will he at least 1600 candidates, whose expenses are likely to aggre-' gate £1,250,000.
