On a recent Friday in Petrograd * man and a woman appeared at th« register office and signed a contract which, according to Bolshevik law, permitted them to live together. Forty minutes later husband and wife returned, demanding that the marriage be cancelled. They explained that on the way home in the tramway tar they had quarrelled as to where they would live. The authorities granted the divorce.
