GENERAL TOPICS. From Our Own Correspondent. The quarterly returns issued in connection with the Fox ton Police station are as follow:—Number of sittings of the Magistrate’s Court, 3; number of sittings, presided over by justices, G; number of plaints entered during quarter, 25; total amount sued for, £B9 Os (id; number of criminal cases dealt with against males, 20; against females, 1; total 21; fees and fines collected, £52 15s Gd. At the next sitting of the Magistrate's Court in S'oxton, several local youths will be called upon to give an explanation of their behaviour at the local seaside resort on New Year's Eve. As a result of larrikiuism, a number of tents were damaged and other acts of hooliganism perpetrated. The local police had to be summoned before order could be restored. A seal which made its appearance on the local beach on New Year’s Day caused a good deal of interest. The strange visitor was allowed to go bach to the sea unmolested. A Painful Experience. While at tea on Thursday Connie, youngest child of Mr and Mrs W. D. Neville, had the misfortune to get a fishbone stuck in he rthroat. The services of Dr. Wyllie were called in to remove the obstruction, but after investigation, it was thought advisable to transfer the sufferer to the Palmerston North hospital, where an operation was performed. The little patient returned home to her parents yesterday, little the worse for her experience. Personal. The friends of Mr Win. Ross will be pleased to learn that he is now well bn the road to recovery after his serious illness. Mr A. "Walls who has been indisposed for some time by an affection of the ear, is now making good progress towards recovery.
