AUTOMATIC LOOM AT WORK IN LONDON
LONDON. Coruhill, usually -connected in people’s thought with banks an'd big business, recently had one of his ground floors rattling with cottou looms. There were two of them attended by a trim Lancashire mill girl to demonstrate tho Whittaker automatic weft replenishing attachment. It is ?ho invention of Alderman John Whittaker of Preston, who lias been at work "On it for sonic 20 years at a cost of many thousands of pounds. It is already in use in many countries. Alderman Whittaker claims that the /installment of liis ‘device iu a shed of 1000 looms would effect a saving of ■£2so a week in wages as well ns producing a greater and better output.
