From Our Own Correspondent. THE YEAR’S STATISTICS.
Births registered in Foxton for December totalled three, for the Oeto-bcr-Dccembor quarter, 32 and for the whole year, §5. The corresponding figures for 1927 were respectively five, 1C and 70. Deaths recorded by the registrar for the month of December, the quarter and tho year were nil, three and li; for the Inst quarter of 1927, four and for the 12-monthly period, 24. Maori births for last year numbered three, the return for the previous year being tho same. Deaths of aboriginal natives in 1927 and 1928 were seven in each case. Marriages showed a increase last yoar, there being 25 as against eight for the whole of 1927. Ceremonies' performed by the registrar were four, only two .taking placo in the office the previous year. Rain fell on .12 days at Foxton last month, the total fall being 5.74 inches, the heaviest occurring on December 29. when 1.3 inches was recorded. May was the wettest month in 1928, in which year recordable rain fell on 98 days. The maximum fall of 2.16 inches’ was also recorded in May, which showed a total gauge of 8.06 inches.'*
