MANAWATU BEATS PALMERSTON FOR TAKARO CUP.
On the holder’s green yesterday afternoon, a Manawatu team, composed of Morris King, Proecc, Gerrand (s) 19, defeated Palmerston represented by Boon, . Wilson, V. Goldfinch and J. K. Paton (s) 18 in a challenge match for the Takaro Cup. At the tenth head, Palmerston led 10-7 at the thirteenth, the scores were 11 all. Then Palmerston and Manawatu alternately held the advantage, the score board reading 18 all at the 20th head. Palmerston was lying two at tho last, when Gerrand drove, cannoning tho kitty to one of his lead’s bowls to snatch a narrow victory. Terrace End. Playing in the Percentage Fours, Ashton, Follas, Toogood, Jones (s) 21, defeated Childs, McKinnon, Wallace, Sparrow (s) 15. Hinc, George ,Thorn, Snell (s) 20, defeated Lachlan, Dixon, Collier, Rcnnett (s) IS.
