TRIPS TO TERMINAL OF EAST COAST LINE
RAILWAY INSTRUCTION TOUR, Per Press Association. n - NAPIER, Lust Night. The Railway Department to-day ran an excursion train from Waipuknraii - to Tatira, 30 miles nojth from Napier, tho farthest point it is yet possible to reach on the end of the East Coast railway, Tho object of the excursion was to give an opportunity to the people of Hawke’s Bay to gain an understanding of tho immensity of the undertaking, and in order that they might see at first hand evidence of the splendid progress being nyde with tho construction of the lino. She route, oa which there are Severn long, stiff grades, has involved the construction made the tryp and as a result, Hawke’s and viaducts, which gave the people much ,to interest them. Over 900 people made tb trip and as a result, Hawke’s Bay in general will be much more fully acquainted with the railway. Ail are so pleased to see it being pushed on by the Public Works Department. Speeches gave en route by officers of the Railway Department, stressed the magnitude of the work, explained the engineering difficulties and emphasised the desire of the Department to serve the people and to gain their co-opera-tion in effectively conducting the railways generally on methods best calculated to advance the interests of the Dominion. ~ *
