The Chief Inspector’s report for Sep-tember-October stated: —“We have been engaged on general inspection and my assistant at Euahine reports, it now being 12 months since he took over tko area, ho is of the opinion that most of the properties continue in the same good order in .which they were when he took over and some show a slight improvement, but at the same time there are still scattered rabbits throughout the whole area. “In my own district the majority of properties inspected show an improvement and are now mostly ina fairly satisfactory condition. Only odd rabbits are to bo seen and places that were fairly bad a couple of years ago are now so much improved as to compare favourably with any other part of our district.

“We must, however, expect to see a slight increase in the pest during the next couple of months as rabbits are at present in the height of their breeding season. It is nearly impossible fo find and destroy all breeding, burrows. “So far I have not seen a &reat many young ones this season, except in a few very suitable localities. This leads me to hope that there will n<|t be any alarming increase on the majority of properties, and if the settlers continue to give the pests the requited attention, it will not bo difficult to hold them in check, and after the breeding is over, reduce them still more. ” ■'
