‘I won’t send you to prison, because the doctor is not prepared to say you were actually drunk at the time he saw you, but you will pay a- fine of £SO and I shqil suspend your license for five years;” In this fashion the Old Street magistrate , deaft with Isidore Wiscnthal, aged 24, a furrier, says a London paper. Wiscnthal was charged with being drunk while in charge of a .motor car, and there was a second charge of driving in a manner dangerout to the public in Globe road, Bethnal Green. ■The police evidence showed that Wisonthal’s car was in collision with a temporary obelisk. A police surgeon who saw Wiscnthal 30 or 40 minutes after his arrest said the man was then recovering from the effects of drink rather than actually drunk. It was stated that Wiscnthal had 24 previous convictions, and there wero eight endorsements on his license. He was fined twice in 1923 for dangerous driving, " : \ The'magistrate, told Wiscnthal ho was entirely unfit to drive a car.
