NOTES OF THE DAY
Wairarapa ladies’ and men’s representative hockey teams will visit Pending oil Saturday afternoon to play matches with the local representative teams. The ladies’ match will be played at 2 o’clock and the men’s at 5.15 o ’clock.
A wide circle of both European and Native' friends will regret to learn of the illness of Mr. Mason Durio of Aorangi who is a patient in the Fctiding ' Private Hospital. Mr. .Doric as Maihana Turi is a chief of the NgatiKawhata tribe and Maoris throughout the district arc very concerned over the illness of an esteemed friend'.
An interesting and useful competition commences at Messfs. M'Gruer’s Ltd. on Thursday when the linn arc offering 15 valuable, prizes for the best worked calico aprons. The linn have secured a large quantity of these pretty traced aprons and all entries are free. The only condition being that the materials must be purchased from the firm. As the total outlay docs not exceed the modest sum of 2/11, a large number of entries arc expected, and the prizes are well worth trying for.
