TO AMEND WORKERS’ COMPENSATION ACT
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. , Notice of his intention to introduce the Workers' Compensation Amendment Bill was given in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr E. J. Howard (Christchurch South.) The Bill as it will appear before the House has not yet been completed, but Mr Howard has intimated that it will follow the. lines of a Bill of a similar nature introduced by him last year, but without the which could be said to involve an appropriation of. public funds, provisions which made a rock on which last year’s measure was wrecked.
Mr Howard proposes that full weekly wages -should be paid for period of sickness caused by accilent; that beneficiaries should be entitled to full medical and surgical attention; and that the common employment clause of tho Act which limits claims to £IOOO should be abolished.
