THE BIBLE IN SCHOOLS

ADDRESS BY REV. J. PATERSON. At ? St. Paul’s Hall on Monday night an address under the auspices of the New Zealand Biblo-in-Schools’ League was given by the Rev. John Paterson, M.A., of Wanganui, The Ecv. 0. D. Gardiner, president of the Ministers’ Association, occupied the chair. After his address, Mr. Paterson moved the following resolution which was carried unanimously:— “That this meeting of parents and citizens views as inadequate the present system of education, because its entirely secular principle is a menace to moral and religious welfare, a danger to the State and an injustice to the child. It, therefore, demands from Parliament the restoration o' the Bible to the primary schools. While prepared to grant to committees the right to continue the Nelson system wherever it is at present operating, it views as inadequate any system that docs not place the Bible in the school curri'-ulum and that cannot be applied to all the primary schools of the Dominion.” . A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Paterson, and the singing of the National Anthem concluded the meet ing. ’"
