From Our Own Correspondent. A Nasty Accident. ' To have one too completely severed and another badly • lacerated was tho unfortunate predicament Mr. C. Evans of Moutoa found himself in on Thursday! Evans w r as engaged in doing some digging when the spade slipped and penetrated his boot doing the above mentioned injury. He was brought into Foxtcn where he received medical attention. Shipping. The o.v. the Portland arrived from Blenheim last Monday with a cargo of wheat for a Palmerston North firm. It is understood from the waterfront that this is the first direct shipment of wheat from “Marlborough tho Golden’ 51 for many years. It is also understood that a considerable saving can be effected through shipping direct from Blenheim .to Palmerston North via Foxton. General. The weather at Foxtpn during th« week has been very good. The nights have been very cold with, sharp frosts in the® early morning. Football. Last Wednesday Old Boys met th* Foxton thirds on the racecourse. A good hard game ensued which resulted in a win for the thirds by 22 to 11, after Old Boys had led to half tinna, Mr. H. Taylor refereed.
