A fully-grown seal came asliore near the St. Claim Baths, Dunedin ; at 9 o’clock one evening last week, mounted the steps and shambled along vigorously to the tram terminus, where it had a look at the dairy shop and was regaled with biscuits, and then wobbled up and down the street as if displaying its agility.' There were few persons about. They followed the seal up and down, aud at last coaxed it on to the beach, but it refused to :re-enter the water and showed fight when approached. So it was left lying on the sands, apparently needing a rest, which seemed quite reasonable, seeing that sears indicated a recent encounter.
