"NO MORE WAR" ADDRESS

An address of considerable interest will’bo delivered in the Palace Theatre next Sunday evening at 8.30 p.m., when Mr- Page, of Christchurch, will speak on the subject of, “No More War.” Mr. Page is an exceedingly interesting personality, whose address should prove of great interest to residents of Palmerston North. On the occasion when teachers were required to take the o\Jh of allegiance, Mr. Page'- refused unless he was permitted to add to the form of the oath a statement, “So long as this continues not to conflict with what I believe to be my, duty to God. ’ ’ The authorities refused to accept this qualification, and although numerous testimonies were made to Mr. Page’s character and ability his dismissal resulted, Mr. Pago has also spent a period of six months in the coal mines on the West Coast in order to obtain an insight into mining conditions. The subject ter of his address is one which is at presbnt-concerning all thoughtful people, and is occupying a prominent position in tho columns of the press. Mr. Pago is associated with the “No More War Movement,” the object of which is to stimulate the desire for peace and a righteous hatred of warfare. A collection will be taken up to pay expenses. Tho public is earnestly invited to attend this meeting. In order to allow members of the various churches to bo present, the address will not commence until twenty minutes past eight.
