HARE HUNTING

WIND UP AT KJWITEA The final hare hui}t of the season was held on Monday at Kiwitca. Hounds threw off through the property of Mr, S. Taylor a strong hare soon being put up that headed through the properties of Messrs A. Kidd, J. J. Bryce and H. Livingstone, thence across the Kimbolton road into Mr. W, Clapham’s, ■One horse unfortunately became entangled in a wire fence and hounds got well away while ho was being cut out of the wire. The hare turned ' across’, they road again and ran parallel with Bryce’s line, through the property of Mr. A. Stockhouse. There the huntsman and whips managed ‘to get up with the hounds and followed them into the property of'Mr. TV Mitchell, where they, were whipped off. v. ! Hounds were then taken across the road into Mr. Bryce’s property and after a good run the field, partook of afternoon tea, kindy brought out into the field by-Mrs and Miss Bryce. After a short spell they again threw off and worked in the'direction of home,.add a sharp run after a good hare, found- the field nearly homo when hounds -were packed up. _ , 1 , .During the afternoon-tea ' check Mr. W. Andrews proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the Bryce family for providing afternoon tea in the field,, as .this

was greatly appreciated by the followers. He then called for cheers. Mr. J. J. Bryce returned thanks and said that the hunt would always bo welcome on his property. Altogether the da„ was a most successful wind up for the season as far as Kiwitca was concerned, and prospects look bright for an increase in the membership next season. The hounds “killed” while the followers were extracting the horse from the fence and then got straight on to another hare. The field was not with them for the kill.
