Dodson, of Manchester, riding a .Sunbeam machine, was, a wonderful display of skill and nerve. The riders plunged through clouds seven times ,and mostly steered round the bonds by memory. The mist compelled nearly everyone to discard goggles, and the eyes of the competitors ryore badly swollen before the finish. Parts of the course resembled a skating rink. There wore 13 crashes, but only one was serious. The rider was rendered unconscious, but ho is recovering. Forty-eight riders started, but only 20 finished. i ' .
The Senior Tourist Trophy race is for machines of 500 c.c. (3J h.p.) over seven laps, a distance of 264 miles 300 yards. Last year the winner was Alec Bennett on a. Norton machine, at a speed of 68.41 miles per hour. The second lap was done by J. Simpson on an A.J.S. machine, 71.43 miles per hour.
