WINS FOR ATHLETIC AND R.S.A. Saturday saw Athletic and R.S.A. notch two points each for wins. Playing Flock House on their own ground, Athletic who have been steadily improving as the season progresses lowered the colours of a somewhat weak team by the substantial margin of G —2. Playing at North Street Park, St. Andrew’s broke even with R.S.A in the first spell, with the change over R.S.A.’s combination told its talc and the cx-diggers finished on top by 3 goals to 1. In the junior grade, Rangers were much too good for Flock House, winning D —l. The primary schools competition inaugurated by the Manawatu Football' Association produced two good games. The schoolboys showing great enthusiasm and revealing talent which augurs well for the future of the game in this district

On resuming after half time R.S.A. controlled the game temporarily—the Saints however asserted themselves , and hammered hard but the red defence weathered the storm. Reversing affairs the reds raided and were rewarded when McAvinue netted. Keeping on the pressure the reds had the Saints worried. Crowe shot hard for Holland to save well. The ex-soldiers wore not to be denied, McAvinuc landed his second goal. Till the final whistle R.S.A. predominated, only the splendid defensive work of Young keeping the score down to 3—l when the game ended. Mr, Jones was referee. Athletic v. Flock House. In the first half Patten netted for Flock House, "Wheeler evening for Athletic. Goodall added a further goal for the home team. Thereafter Athletic took charge, Watt and Wheeler adding goals to the visitors tally before half time. In the second half with the wind behind them Athletic dominated the game and Watt, Childs and Aird goaled before the conclusion
