YE ODLE ENGLISHE FAIRE CONCLUDES

SUBSTANTIAL ADDITION TO ORGAN FCTiD SHOWN.

Merobers of the Cuba Street Methodist Church have every reason to congratulate themselves upon the success of the “Olde Englishe Faire” which they have organised to swell the fund for the purchase of a pipe organ, and which concluded last evening.

The hall was filled again with a gay and busy crowd, who devoted thcii attention impartially between the many attractions offering, both on the stalls and in the various amusing side shows which had been arranged.

Mr. George Houston, as judge of the mock court, kept a continual cross-fire of repartee going, and conducted his department to the profit and entertainment of everybody present. Con stables Algerson and Ferguson consti tuted a very efficient police force which kept the bench well supplied with prisoners, all of whom, paid theii lines with a most refreshing willingness.

The finals of the tug-o-war competitions attracted considerable interest end some -\villing pulls. The winners of the heavy-weight division proved to bo Eev. J. D. McArthur, and Messrs Algerson, W. Wiseman, and J. Keat. The light-weight division was won by tho Broad Street Bible class team, Messrs H. G. ;Bycroft, L. H. Byoroft, J. Seymour aijd F. Cpislctt. A hat-trimming competition held during tho evening, was won by Mr. Algerson. The once bountifully laden stalls presented a most depleted appearance, tho steady stream of customers having kept the helpers behind the counters, 1 very busily employed. It is expected, that, as a result of the efforts of the organisers of the Faire, approximately £l5O will bo realised apart from the EIOO donation made to the organ funds ey tho trustees of the Mowlenv estate, ft is, of course, impossible to give lefinito figures at present, but the sura aentioned constitutes a splendid adlit ion to the fund, and is an amount npon which tho many willing workers in the good cause have reason to congratulate themselves.
