The “Citta di Milano'’ reports that after making regular periodical wireless calls to the Italia she heard signals recognisable as coming from the. dirigible including the word “Franquesco”. The “Citta di Milano” continues its attempt to ascertain the Italia’s position. An earlier cable through London stated: The “Oita di Milano” announces that she has re-established wireless communication with General Nobiile's airship Italia, the whereabouts of which have been unknown since 25th May. LATER ADVICES CONFIRM. United Service. Received Friday, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, June 8. Advices from Rome state that a cautiously phrased communique confirms that the Citta di Milano heard the Italia signals on Thursday, The vessel recorded with near certainty the word “Franz” indicating the possibility the airship landed in Franz Josef Land. ‘ITALIA’ CRUSHED AGAINST MOUNTAIN. Received Friday, 7.45 p.m. NEW YORK, June 7. News from Altoona (Pennsylvania) states that Clyde Amos, amateur radio operator, reported the reception of a General Nobile message on 33.35 metres. “S.O.S S.O.S. S.O.S'. Nobile. No shelter remains except Italia which is crushed against a mountain. Position 84.15.10 north 15.20.40 oast. Temperature freezing. Rush food, all alive. Several injured. Heard no calls. Will be on air again 06,00 G.NT., S.P.S., S.P.S., S.P.S., 8.A.0., E.A.0., R.A.O. Nobile.” The message was not picked up elsewhere and is not confirmed. Amos said ho would remain on the air.
