GIRL CITIZENS
SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. The Palmerston North Girl Citizens, affiliated with the local Y.M.C.A., held a community gathering.- in the club rooms, on Wednesday evening, : when the president, Miss Hardie, acted -as chairman. A number of new members wore enrolled, and Miss Burnley (Foilding) das made a councillor of the. Palmerston North community,-, This was followed by a singing competition. The girls had» been coached for the last six weeks, their tutors being Mcs-
dames McGregor and Brown, ; and Miss Joaii Pacey and Muriel Smith. The winning group was tho Monday night group of citizens. Mr. J. Holmes Bunnicles, who acted as judge, gave tho youthful competitors some very useful hints on voice production. Miss U. Eiehards, one of tho citizens, thanked Mr. Runnicles for his' services in acting as judge and more especially for his helpful criticisms.
