HOUSEHOLD HINTS
To Keep Silver Bright.—Add about three tablcspoonsful of borax to a bowl of hot water, put the silver in, and leave in for some hours. Rinse in clear water and wipe it with a soft cloth.
Cleansing Greasy Hands.—When tho hands are very dirty and greasy it is a good plan to wash them in a little paraffin before using soap and water.
To Get Rid of .Mice. —Mice dislike tho smell of turpentine, so if rags soaked in it arc placed at tho entrance to their holes it will often get rid of them.
Ink Stains on a Deal Table.—Damp the stain with cold water and rub in a little common salt. It will invariably remove the stain. Rusty Mattresses—lf you have a spring mattress which has become rusty, it is a good plan to brush it well, then give it a coat of aluminium paint. Shabby Ribbon.—Ribbon which is creased and shabby looking should be well brushed, damped, and ironed between sheets of: tissue paper. To Clean Cream Serge. —Ground rice is a good thing with which to clean cream sorgo that is not too soiled.
