TEST OF LATEST HUDSON MODEL

Under the supervision of Mr Harry Gordon, managing editor of the “Sydney Morning Herald,” Messrs Halgcly and Co. Ltd. recently conducted a comprehensive test of the performing abilities and economy of the latest Hudson Super-Six. A standard 118 inch wheel base, sedan was filled with petrol and driven first to that notorious hill, Ardon Street, Coogeo. Starting at about 45 mites per hour at the bottom the Hudson breasted the top in high gear at SO miles per hour at its iirst attempt. This was considered to be more than satisfactory and the car was then taken to Maroubra Speedway for speed ami acceleration tests. Those tests, too, were highly successful, the Hudson attaining 77 miles per hour in top, 53 in second, and 28 in first. It also completed one lap of the 5-G mile track in 45 4-sscconds. The acceleration tests were next held ,and the Hudson travelled from 10 to 30 miles per hour in 4 2-5 seconds in second gear and in 7 seconds in top—both excellent for a standard closed car. The car was then driven about the

suburbs unlil it had completed 3G miles whoa it was again filled with petrol. Fifteen pints were necessary to till it,s tanks and the petrol mileage therefore was 19.3 miles per gallon, including high speed and hill climbing and without any coasting. There is no doubt that the new Hudson is a wonderful performer, but it is also now in, the economy car class.
